Patrick & Ashton: January 19, 2019

by Lisa Knobloch

When planning a January wedding you realize that you have no control of the weather, especially in Illinois! We were hoping for a nice dusting of snow for Patrick and Ashton’s wedding, but the week of the wedding what was predicted was a winter weather advisory for a blizzard that weekend!! This is not exactly what a bride dreams of when planning her wedding, but I was amazed how Ashton and her mom seemed to take it all in stride.

I decided because of the weather my assistant Leah and I would head down on Friday. Everyone at the Par-A-Dice Hotel was so great to work with. We were given a conference room to work out of and decided to stay the night so we would be there and ready for set up on Saturday morning just in case the roads were really bad! As we were putting together centerpieces on site on Friday Ashton came into the room. I don’t know if I have ever felt so appreciated by a bride and her mom as I did by Ashton and Lorrie. Flowers were very important to Ashton and she became emotional as she took everything in. I just love when a bride loves flowers as much as I do 🙂

Saturday morning I awoke and went to the window almost dreading what I would find as I pulled back the curtain. Much to my surprise we did not get the snowfall that had been predicted. (Answered prayer!) It was still really cold, and windy but it was so much better than it could have been.

The winter wonderland made for beautiful pictures and we were amazed how well the flowers held up in the cold and wind. Ashton’s beautiful bouquet was filled with rich burgundy’s and blush tones.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful burgundy dresses which complimented the girls bouquets perfectly!

Brooke captured so many amazing pictures from this wedding but pictures I don’t often get to see is the reactions from the family as they take in the fully decorated venue. I love the expressions on their faces and it makes all the hours of hard work that goes into preparing and set up so worth it!!

I love how the curtains entering the cocktail hour made a grand entrance while also giving some privacy.

We also added greenery to the curtain behind the head table which was the focal point of the room.

Ashton chose 3 different centerpieces for her tables

The large vases filled with tall sticks and flowers gave height to this big room
The brides mom made these large wooden boxes. We used the cylinders provided by the Paradise Hotel and filled the boxes with fresh florals…..ahhhmazing!
The third centerpiece was a gold mercury compote arrangement filled with lots of beautiful flowers and texture.

There were so many little details that made this wedding day perfect. The best detail was the love and respect that we witnessed between Patrick and Ashton, the beautifully decorated room, the delicious food, scrumptious cake, the toast given by her father, the great band. I was honored to be a part of this day, not only by doing the flowers but by also being a guest. Thank you Nowlan family for a very special day!
